Australia Day, Rosevale Pub & Boonah ~ 26 January, 2010 ....

A total of 27 cars combining 30 club members from our club and another 30 from the Ipswich Classic Car Club met at Yamanto Shopping centre and set-off at 9:30am for a 150km round trip via Boonah, Kalbar, Harrisville, Warrill View, Rosevale and Rosewood.

The group stayed at Boonah for about half an hour. It was a brilliant day weather-wise, a little bit hot, but things were about to go downhill for Greg and Leanne Hawkins in their Chateau Mauve XU-1. Yep – mechanical problems. The steering coupling literally fell out on the ground in the carpark. By this time most other cars had left but the Darryn Merritt was on hand with his cape and suit. Quick as a flash into the phone box- no sorry wrong story – actually he tried to get another coupling but to no avail and Greg had the car trucked to Ron Gordon’s place where it was fixed the next day.

We traveled onto the Rosevale Retreat Hotel. Darryn finally turned up. Unfortunately for Greg and Leanne their day was run.

The meal was great and the two clubs merged as one for the day and a good time was had by those who attended. The raffle was organized by Gail and Sandy. Justine and Shirley looked after the catering numbers and ensured that the numbers balanced for the final payment to the hotel.

We left Rosevale late in the afternoon for a final stop at Rosewood. The Toowoomba members made their way to the Warrego Highway, whilst the remainder of the group stopped and talked and eventually at about 4:00pm made their way back to Ipswich and onward home.

The club extends thanks to the members who were able to make it on the day. The committee also thanks the helpers on the day that helped make the day such a great success.

Ron.
