A couple of members, Pete and Tom plus their other halves (Kelli and I), decided to brave the inclement weather to take their cars off to Eagle Farm Racecourse for the annual RACQ Motorfest, where, upon arrival, found another member, Reedy, had also decided to turn-up, along with a mate of his in a fine looking GT XY Falcon.
We all lined-up in our allotted spaces, with the Ford in between Reedy and us. Another member, Errol, was there too, but he had brought his VK Commodore and was with the HSV Club. A couple of other members also were there, but they declined to bring their cars.
By mid-morning there were 750 cars all up from a rare Alfa G1 to a Zephyr Zodiac Consul and everything in between, including a great looking old Hearse! There were displays and stalls for everyone including wine and food (Kelli and I had a great time sampling some of the wines, though we came away empty-handed!), and there were things for the littlies such as pony rides and face-painting, even the Wiggles Big Red Car, in which Kelli and I had our photo taken for free as part of the RACQ’s promotional gig. (We did this before the kids turned-up.)
It was a great day out despite the weather. The cars on display were unbelievable which goes to show how many enthusiasts there are around.
