July Club Run to Morgan Park Raceway- Warwick
33rd Annual Historic Race Meeting

Meeting-up at what has become our usual meeting place at Yamanto, there were three Toranas plus our Brock Commodore plus Tom and Kelli in his street car. Peter Davis came along to see us off (he had other plans for the day).

Before long we were heading-off to meet-up with Wayne and Sandra from Kingaroy who were meeting us outside of Warwick and Rod Campbell, who was joining us in Warwick.

The trip up through Cunningham’s Gap was good, with the scenery as lovely as usual. At the truck stop, we had the usual passersby wanting to take photos. We couldn’t hang about too long, as we had to catch-up with Rod before heading to Morgan Park Raceway.

When we arrived, the guys at the gate asked if we wanted to put our cars on display, so off we went to the Club display area. There were some nice looking EH’s and other cars parked in this area as well. This was a good decision that we made, as we ended-up winning ‘Best Club Display!’

The weather turned-out rather warm at times which was unusual for Warwick, so we made the most of it. After the cars were parked we went to check out pit lane and the race cars. After lunch the guys got to take their cars out for a couple of laps around the track along with other classic cars. This made for great photos. Then it was time for the racing that we had come to see, Fords versus Holdens. This was great to watch. All too soon it was time for some of us to head for home before the rains came, while the rest decided to stay a bit longer. On the way home we ran into some rain, and were glad that it had stayed away at Warwick!

Thanks to those who travelled to Warwick to join us, it was a great day out!

Additional Run Report

Meeting-up at the usual place, Macca’s at Yamanto were one Lone’O’Ranger, one Yellow Dolly, two Chateau Mauves and one Purpule Torana plus a couple of street cars. After the usual meet-and-greet, we headed-off for our scenic run out through the countryside to Plainlands, where we were to have a coffee break.

Travelling through Thagoona, Rosewood, Grandchester and Laidley, we arrived at Plainlands for a rest before heading to Marburg for our Antiques fix. Lots of antiques to look at and admire (and to reminisce about for those of us who are old enough to remember!), but, alas, no purchases were made.

While in Marburg, some of us spotted a lovely pink house with a Hair salon attached at the front. How nice, we thought. Then found out that a couple of our members frequent this establishment on a regular basis. Hmm, fodder for the newsletter or food for thought?

Anyway, it was soon time to head back to Ipswich to meet-up with John and Sandy at Queen’s Park for lunch and a club meeting. Another scenic drive through Tallegalla and Rosewood and back through Leichhardt and on to the park. The park was alive with so many people enjoying the beautiful weather. We headed to the top of the park near the Bush Chapel where it was much less crowded.

Then it was off to the kiosk to grab lunch, then back up to the tables for our get-together. Lunch over and done with, we had our informal meeting then just sat back to enjoy the surrounds and the great company. All too soon it was time to pack-up and head for home. Thanks to those who made the trip, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
