Morayfield Auto Spectacular
Saturday 12th February ‘11

A few members of the club decided to help the Queensland Flood Appeal by taking their cars to the Morayfield Auto Spectacular which was donating the proceeds to this worthy cause. Although it was a rather warm day, it didn’t deter people from bringing-out their classic cars for a good cause.

After setting-up we headed for the nearest cool spot under the trees. Here we could keep an eye on the cars as well as have a good view of the field of cars that turned-up. The organisers would have been happy with the amount of cars that were there.

Gary’s better half, Karen, had come down for the drive and was going shopping rather than stay in the heat all day. Reedy’s mate turned-up with his ice-cream van, which was great, as we were afforded 'mates’ rates!' (thanks for that. We really loved the ice creams!!!).

Other members of the club, Jannette and Howard, were already set-up when we arrived and we soon caught-up with them for a chat.

Some members turned-up just to have a look but declined to bring their cars out. All-in-all we had two XU-1’s, one Brock Commodore (no prizes for guessing who that was!), and three A9X’s (square bears) and we also had Reedy’s mate, John, who bought along his nice-looking GT XY Falcon.

At the end of the day, when the trophies were being awarded, some of us were still sitting down in the shade and didn’t realise what was going-on until Acco came to tell us that Pete’s name had been called out and that the organisers were looking for him!

He had won a 2nd place trophy for the '1980’s Cars' Category!!. (the others had too much competition in the ‘70’s category'). This now joins the other trophies he has won for the car. A nice end to a great day out.

A big 'thank you' to Gary for letting us know about this car show, and to Jannette and the guys for your company, it was enjoyable as usual. And last, but by no means least, thank you to Lance for the great pics you took (the 'covert' photographer!).

Gail.
