Moogerah Dam & Aratula Pub, ~ 16 May, 2010 ....

Grey skies, possible showers (in some parts apparently!), these things weren't going to deter us from getting out and about, so Pete and I headed-off to Yamanto to fuel-up 'The Beast' before meeting-up with Darryn, Justine, Reagan and Rachael, Wayne and his mate Barry who drove in from Kingaroy, and John and Sandy at the shopping centre there. After the usual meet-and-greet we headed-off up to the highway and Aratula, where we were to meet Rod Campbell who was coming-in from Warwick.

Arriving at Aratula, after a very pleasant run through the countryside and a quick detour to show the guys where the new kart track was at Mutdapilly, we were told that Rod would be meeting us at the pub at the turn-off to Moogerah Dam. So off we headed to meet-up with him there. It wasn't long before he arrived, and we were on the road again.

Arriving at Moogerah, the cars were parked and some of us went to see if the kiosk was still there. Finding it closed, we headed back to the others to decide where we would go to get a feed. In the meantime, Alan Brown had arrived to join us for the rest of the trip. Once we had decided that the pub at Aratula was the place for lunch, we then went for a look around the dam.

The obligatory photos were taken of the cars and the dam, and we even had a guy who told us that he had never got around to buying a Torana in his youth! That had to be a first for us as we are usually told by so many people that they used to own one!

It was nice to see lots of water in the dam, and we all went to have a look from the dam wall. Suffering from vertigo, I managed to go a short distance but didnt make it to the dam wall, then decided to head back before I started to get too dizzy! Then it was time to head back to the pub for lunch.

After ordering our meals, we headed to the outdoor dining area under the trees. Great lunch and good company, what more could you ask for? Then it was back to the carpark where Darryn did a quick repair job on Wayne's car (something about rockercovers was mentioned). Photos were taken of the surrounding countryside and some of the local attractions, then it was time to head for home before the weather turned nasty.

Although the weather wasn't all that great, we still had a good day. A big thank you to those who came, we hope you enjoyed yourselves. So until next time, happy travelling!
