Caboolture, Woodford & Kilcoy, Somerset Dam, 21 November, 2010 ....

Although the weather didn’t look the greatest, a good roll-up of members decided to take their cars out for a spin. Meeting-up at the Shell Servo at Goodna was the first port-of-call for those of us in the Ipswich area, then onto Nudgee Service Centre to meet members from the Gold Coast.

After a caffeine fix for some of us, it was off to the Caboolture Historical Village where we met-up with the some of the members from Brisbane, Burpengary and Kingaroy. After deciding not to visit the Village (most members had already been there before !), it was time to continue our trip to Kilcoy.

Next stop was Woodford, normally a sleepy little village that comes alive on Sundays for the markets, and for the annual Woodford Folk Festival. Here we came across quite a few members of the local constabulary who had set up shop on the side of the main road into town. I don’t know what they might have been thinking when they saw us rock-up, but they did give us the once over.

Antique shops abound in this little hamlet, though none of our members purchased any of their wares. The markets and shops however, did make some money out of a few of us. The majority of our group decided to have a coffee break while we were here.

Soon it was time to head for Kilcoy and lunch. Even though the weather was so-so, the view of the lake at the park made it bearable! After lunch, the raffle was drawn, with Steve Rule winning 1st prize and Kelli Simpkin getting second prize.

After a pleasant interlude, it was time to head for home, with half of the crew going sth/east, west and north and the rest of us heading to Somerset Dam for ice-cream before heading home. The dam was packed with holiday-makers (some of whom were rellies of Pete’s, there for the weekend. Goes to show that you really can’t go anywhere, ‘cause you don’t know who might be lurking around the corner!!!).

After a nice break at the dam it was time to say goodbye and head for home. Thanks to all who joined us for the day, it was good to catch up.
