A9X Club (Australia Day) Run
Dugandan Pub, Boonah
Sunday 30th January 2011
For the second time in a week our club celebrated Australia Day, this time we were invited to join the A9X Club for a run to the Dugandan Pub for lunch. After arriving at what has now become our usual meeting place (Yamanto Shopping Centre), we found 15 nice looking Toranas and a couple of good-looking Monaros waiting in the car park.
After the usual meet-and-greet, we started to head-off for our destination. One member of our club, Errol (who is also a member of the A9X mob), had a problem with his car’s clutch cable. The guys got him mobile, so he decided to head back home to Pittsworth rather than risk driving to the pub and then home. (we heard he made it home and that a new cable was ordered and on its way).
Arriving at the pub, we headed for the shade of the back verandah of the pub. Some of us were lucky enough to score tables under the eaves of the verandah, while others had to sit under shade sails which were shady enough but didn’t keep the heat away very well.
Lunch was ordered quickly so that we could sit back and relax and catch up with our fellow Torana enthusiasts. After lunch we headed-out to the front verandah and some of the guys headed to the cars for the obligatory taking photos and checking-out each other’s cars. All too soon it was time to head for home.
Sandy, Shirley and I wanted to check out the local antique shop at Peak Crossing on the way home, so we and the guys plus Steve Rule headed-off. The guys decided to stop at the pub at Peak Crossing while we went across the road to the shop. Sandy and I made a couple of purchases while Shirley was quite happy just to browse.
Then it was back to the guys for a couple of cool beverages before we said our final farewells and headed for home.
A big 'thank you' to Bruce and Karen Young and the members of the A9X Club for inviting us to join them for a great day out. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
