Australia Day, Tamborine & Hinterland ~ 26 January, 2011 ....

Oz Day Run 2011
Canungra

Meeting at our usual place (Yamanto Shops), six good-looking Toranas were lined-up, ready for their trip to Canungra. During the now obligatory meet and catch-up, some of us girls went to get bread and rolls for the BBQ, but the supermarket was closed and wasn’t to open until after we left! So it was time to head-off on our trip, making a quick stop at Beaudesert to get the aforementioned necessities for our lunch.

We soon had what we needed, so off to Tamborine where we met-up with three more good-looking Toranas belonging to those members who didn’t want to do a roundabout trip. Then it was onto Curtis Falls for morning tea and for those who wanted to check-out the Falls. While a few of the gang went for the walk to the Falls, the rest of us chilled-out in the shade and partook of some of Lisa’s fabulous homemade goodies (Anzac bikkies and Aussie animal- shaped bikkies were really yummy!!!!).

Soon we were heading through Mt. Tamborine and then down this very winding road to Canungra and onto the Lions Park. Here we were joined by a few latecomers. What a great spot! Right near the creek and shaded by huge trees; it was ideal.

Barbecue started, it wasn’t long before we were having a great feed. Good company (and I don’t just mean the fauna (lizards) that kept us amused!) and good food, it doesn’t get much better than this. A few of the members were feeling the need for something cool to eat, so we went for a walk to the shops for ice-cream.

All too soon it was time to say our farewells and head in different directions for home. Ron, Shirley, Pete and I headed for Peak Crossing, where we were to part ways when the guys both had the same idea - have a couple of cold drinks at the local! Having quenched our thirst we said our farewells and headed for home.

A big ‘thank you’ to Tom and David for taking lots of photos of our day out, and to all those who made the trip with us. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
